Session 1A - Adventures in Animal Behaviour
Join Professor MacDonald as she takes you on a journey inside the lives of animals, from elephants in Kenya to tigers in the zoo, to computer-loving orangutans. She will describe her research to learn how animals think, and how we can use that knowledge to enrich their lives, both in captivity and in the wild.

Session 2A - Do Machines See like Humans do?
Vision research has been part of York's depth of science research in many fields over many years. This session will tell us how "seeing" happens in machines in all the complexity of that field - you will have "sights" and "insights".
If the renovations of his lab are complete, Dr. Tsotsos will welcome 50 York Circle members into his laboratory. We will let you know well before the date if that is possible and information to reserve your spot will be made available soon.

Detective Work in Ontario Churches: Cases of Denominational and Ethnic Identity in the Religious Architecture of Toronto and Vicinity |
This richly illustrated presentation explores church architecture in Toronto, Guelph, Hamilton and the Niagara peninsula. We investigate clues that reveal the association of specific motifs and building types with different religious and ethnic groups.

Series will showcase world class concerts, theatre,

Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre (London), and the Lincoln Centre (New York).

What choices do actors make in their preparation that will enable them to soar in performance? Join Professor Wilson before the screening of As You Like It as he highlights the creative journey actors undertake when tackling their roles. Professor Wilson will also be available at the intermission to compare notes about this superlative production from Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, England. Professor Williams is a much lauded scholar in Medieval and Renaissance literature with a focus on Shakespeare. She also studies the contemporary writers who base their works on the work of Shakespeare. She has degrees from Toronto, Oxford and Stanford and recently won the John Polyani Prize in English literature. She will give you an entirely new take on Romeo and Juliet - you'll never look at it in the same way!
